El EACEC, o Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo El Contenedor, es un espacio para actividades culturales. Comenzamos allá por 2010 como una apropiación de la calle y concretamente, de un elemento existente en ella (un contenedor), para su aprovechamiento con fines culturales.
De manera irónica, jugamos con la idea de que el arte que se coloque en el contenedor, pasará desapercibido las más de las veces. Es todo esto quizás una forma de reírnos de nosotros mismos y del arte contemporáneo: ¿Puede el arte contemporáneo confundirse con la basura? ¿Los artistas de hoy hacemos arte o hacemos basura? No sería la primera vez que una obra de arte acaba en un contenedor, entonces, ¿por qué no colocarla allí directamente?
El colocarnos directamente en la calle, nos permite además más visibilidad, y dejar claro que no hace falta una gran infraestructura para desarrollar actividades culturales interesantes y beneficiosas para/con la ciudadanía, si no que, más bien al contrario, es la calle el escenario más apropiado para la democratización de la cultura.
Aceptamos todo tipo de propuestas siempre que resulten interesantes, desde instalaciones efímeras de artistas, a espectáculos teatrales, circenses, recitales, etc. Todo aquello que pueda hacerse en la calle.
El Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo El Contenedor tiene tres objetivos fundamentales: hacer una programación cultural basada en arte contemporáneo y arte público en todas sus vertientes; crear tejido cultural, es decir, favorecer el crecimiento de un entorno adecuado para la difusión de esa programación; el tercero y último objetivo es el de posicionar esta propuesta en el entorno artístico contemporáneo, de manera que los dos propósitos anteriores tengan el éxito deseado.
Además tanto el EACEC como los objetivos que persigue, se enmarcan en el contexto de la asociación EACEC, que da cabida a esta y otras iniciativas para un mayor cumplimiento de los objetivos marcados y para una difusión de la cultura a todos los niveles.
El EACEC no solo tiene una vertiente cultural, si no que desde 2013 tiene un lado social que se explica en el apartado "EACEC Social" de este blog.
Si quieres conocer las actividades culturales de EACEC debes buscar la etiqueta "eacec cultural". En cambio, si quieres conocer las actividades sociales, relacionadas principalmente con el colectivo LGTB, debes buscar la etiqueta "eacec social".

The Container Contemporary Art Space (EACEC) holds exhibitions and other cultural activities for the sake of art and artists. We started on 2010 as an appropriation of the streets, and more specifically, of an element found on the streets (the waste container), taking advantage of its presence for cultural purposes.

In an ironic way, we play with the thought that the artworks we place in the waste container will go unnoticed most of the times. All of this is probably a way for us to make fun of ourselves and of contemporary art: Can contemporary art be confused with waste? Do today’s artists make art or garbage? It wouldn’t be the first time that a work of art ended up in a waste container; therefore, why not place it there from the start?

Furthermore, both EACEC and the objectives it pursues are enshrined within the context of the association EACEC, allowing this and other initiatives to help carry out the aims that have been set and to disseminate culture at all levels.
